When Dick and Dorothy "Dot" Christman became widowed within months of each other, they talked about their loss and realized they had a lot in common. And found they thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. After a brief romance, they married and Dot merged her furnishings with Dick's and moved to his larger cottage. And here's the rest of their story!

Dick said, “We enjoy the campus setting at the Village with its many kinds of trees, shrubs and flowers, and our favorite pastime is to watch the birds when they visit the feeders and listen to them sing as they fly back to their nests.” Dot remarked, “We get together often with friends to play cards and games and we go out to dinner on a regular basis. Volunteering in the Library and Ice Cream Parlor has allowed us to meet more residents from the main building and patio homes. That not only extends our “family” but it's a fun thing to do!”

When the Christmans moved to the Village, unrestricted, skilled nursing care and assisted living was included. So in the future if they need help, they won't have to be the caregiver for each other or rely on family or friends. And that service is only unique to John Knox Village.
