I was looking for independent living with good security along with life-care for future needs. I found it at John Knox Village. I am the first resident to live in my 3 bedroom, 2 bath, patio home. The builder hadn’t broken ground when I chose my home in the Village. It came complete with appliances in the kitchen and laundry room and a very large storage room inside the 2-car garage. I have an abundance of closet space and there is still plenty of room for my beloved pets and me. I like a lot of living space so I had a very large room with a mini-kitchen added to the original plan.

I am all alone (not even a third cousin) but I am never lonely. I can be involved in as many activities as I choose. There is something here for everyone. I can go dancing, swimming, participate in the computer club, play bridge, bingo, hand and foot, and other games. I go to monthly parties with good entertainment, visit the beautiful Chapel, and I can take the Village’s bus to the Symphony Concerts in McAllen or to the local shopping malls.

I live a carefree, stress-free life. If I become ill, I can have meals delivered from the John Knox Village kitchen to my front door. If I have a health emergency, a healthcare worker will be at my door in just a matter of minutes. If I need extra help or repairs done, I don’t have to deal with strangers. How comforting it is to know that if I ever need any kind of assistance that I will already know the person(s) who will be there for me. That’s special and total security!!

Oh yes, I’m a charter member of the newly formed, Red Hat Society, called “The Red Peppers”. We are having a ball going out in public en masse with our red hats and purple attire. It is another testimonial to the happy times at John Knox Village. I love this place? I hope you will too!
