Retired but Still Working!

I moved to John Knox Village right after I retired because I was living by myself and it was a lonely existence.. Plus, I didn't like cooking: I didn't like eating alone: and I didn't like doing housekeeping & laundry. So, I was the perfect candidate for John Knox Village. Now, the loneliness no longer exists.

I chose a 2 bedroom apartment so I could use one of the bedrooms for family visits and as an office for my real estate investment business.. I can get three meals a day if I want, much of the housekeeping and laundry is provided, as is all of the maintenance and future care if needed. Also I don't pay for cable TV or utility bills except for the telephone service.

There are numerous activities that I enjoy. In particular the swimming, bicycling, coffee klatches, monthly parties and the entertainment. It's also a treat to ride the JKV bus to hear the Valley Symphony Orchestra. And when it's over, the bus is always waiting. The Chapel services, singing hymns and bible studies are enjoyable and inspiring for those who wish to participate. We call ourselves the Chapel Family.

Living at John Knox Village has greatly enriched my life, not only because of the activities, but more importantly for the many friendships that have become an important and fulfilling part of my life.
