The “Domino” Effect

Last year, I became a resident of John Knox Village. I had been living in my motor home and I decided to keep it so I could continue to travel a little. I chose my cottage because of size and location and I wondered at the time if it would be renovated as promised. On move-in day I was elated to find new paint, carpet, tiles, sinks, countertops and appliances. It was great! All of my old and new furnishings fit beautifully. It was, and still is, a perfect place for "Domino", my little border collie and me. I even have a paved, reserved parking space for my motor home on the premises.

It was a smart move when I made the decision to eat the mid-day meal each day in the main dining room. Not only do I get delicious, healthful food each day, but it has enabled me to make friends with many of the residents. I believe my overall good health is a direct result of moving to John Knox. Besides my excellent new eating habits, I walk the hallways of the main building every morning for exercise. I think another major factor relating to my good health is the elimination of stress from my life. I no longer worry about the upkeep of property, taxes, utility bills, lawn care and general maintenance to name a few. And I don't worry about my immediate health or future health needs, because I am a lifetime member of a life-care community. The village employees are helpful and friendly and they all seem to know me by name. Every morning when I walk my dog, the man on the gate says "Good Morning, Mr. Parker". It not only illustrates "friendliness", but it gives me a sense of importance and security as well. I like that! Single or not, it is a great place to live!
